Gravelrama


The Gravelrama parade was last night and it went well. It was certainly a lot of work but it was awesome! I absolutely love getting to help with large events like this. I made a total of 28 signs by hand! It was all worth it though when the float was finally decorated. We even won 2nd place in the non-competitive 4X4 category.

Getting the floats in the right order was an absolute nightmare. Especially with the horse and buggy leading the way! I was very lucky that the firetrucks were cooperative enough to move so that we were able to get the Kroger semi around with the horse and buggy. Overall, the parade took 50 minutes! I think this is by far the most vehicles we've ever had participate! It was an amazing turn out.


Here is my Uncle Doug's vehicle, he won 2nd in the competitive 4X4 category.

We have launched!

I published my website and it's up and running. I'm hopeful that my personal marketing skills can help land me my dream job! I'm very proud of myself and the brand image that I have created, I think it's very representative of my personality and professional style.

I think I have worked out all the kinks of my website but I guess I'll have to wait and see for sure. Like I've said before, I'm a marketer first... and graphic and web designer second, it's more of a hobby. My absolute passion is for marketing.

I hope potential employers will see my dedication to this site and understand how strongly it translates into my professional work ethic and adaptability!

So what's my ROI?

I was at the Bengals game last night when I saw a blimp overhead emblazoned with a DirectTV logo. I'm a self-proclaimed marketing nerd and started to wonder what kind of ROI they expect for that type of advertising. I can't even imagine how much that adverting would cost, I've never worked for any company that required national exposure... let's just say that it cost $10,000 for that blimp and a single customer would generate $1,000 for a one year contract (give or take considering they have so many different product offerings). That means DirectTV would need only 10 customers to break even. Not too shabby, but at the same time, how many football fans are looking at the blimp thinking... "hmmm, I think I should sign up for DirectTV when I get home".

With that being said, I think that DirectTV is able to use that blimp to increase brand awareness and brand association with little concern for the ROI the blimp would bring; that is the convenience of having a large marketing budget.

And honestly I would imagine it would be nearly impossible to measure the ROI for a blimp. I was just really fascinated by the whole scenario!

Sharing is caring

One of the biggest mistakes that I see with marketers today is not utilizing social media for all it's worth. Learn to increase your online real estate by promoting your social media presence and allowing visitors to share your content online.

There is really nothing better than free positive word of mouth. But you have to make it as easy as possible for people! Their are many plug-ins and extensions that allow your content to be posted directly to social media pages. Make sure that the articles on your website can be submitted to social networking pages so that your customers can share with their direct network.

This is a simple fundamental of marketing... stimulate word of mouth!
